Mimmo Villari is 29 years old in 1975, lives in Calabria, has a dusty guitar in the attic and the sacred fire of music that once burned his stomach is now turning into embers. In that period the first experiences of pirate radio arose in Italy. Mimmo is thrilled by the rumors about it and wastes no time: he builds himself an FM transmitter and thus sets up Radio Perla del Tirreno, the first pirate radio station in Bagnara Calabra. The voices of the radio reflect on politics, philosophy, civic education, creating a discourse that is the portrait of a society and an era.

Over the past thirty years, the French textile industry has outsourced almost all of its production. Thousands of jobs have been lost, particularly in the Hauts-de-France region. Those laid off have never found new employment in the garment sector. Today, for some fashion designers, "Made in France" is a matter of quality and reputation, and we are witnessing the beginnings of "relocation" for certain product lines. Capitalizing on this trend, a sewing workshop opened in Ham, Picardy, in May 2017. The plan is to employ 30 people by 2020. Supported by local authorities, this initiative is spearheaded by Jean-Luc François, a couturier committed to training in fashion-related professions. For a year, from the initial application review to the delivery of the first orders, Maurice Ferlet shares with us the hopes and doubts of the first twelve people to join this workshop.

In a settlement in the northern mining country. The Marles, Bréhard and Gohelle families wake up and prepare for a new day at work. The young engineer Larzac, newly appointed to the mine, will soon oppose the authoritarian and conservative methods of his superior Dubard. Georges Gohelle would like to marry Marie Bréhard, but housing difficulties thwart their plans. Brezza, a Polish immigrant, who must return to his country, would like to hate his marriage to Louise Gohelle. Roger, Marie's little brother, has just turned 14. He does not want to go down to the mine as his elders have always done. He will however have to resign himself to it. Marles evokes for him the social struggles of 1906. Roger is injured during a landslide. In front of his family and his friend Marles, who had come to the hospital, he announced his decision to continue his profession. Larzac, invited to the Marles, reveals that he refused a quiet position at the Charbonnages de Paris. He too stays.
