Griendtsveen, a picturesque village in the Peel on the border between Limburg and Brabant, is in danger of losing its primary school De Driehoek. The school, which has been the beating heart of the village for years, is about to close its doors. Documentary maker Ellis Smulders follows the teachers and parents who are determined to keep their school, if necessary by forming the school board themselves. Will they succeed in preserving the core of the close-knit village community, and thus the soul of the village?

Bratsch, located in the Leuk mountains, is an Upper Valais village with a magnificent view of the Rhone Valley. Just one hundred people still lived in the village in 2015. Since the municipality merger with Gampel down in the valley, the school building has stood empty. Something was about to change.
Houses, now abandoned and empty, are being boarded up in Besence of the Ormányság. "Only-childism" is in fashion, due to the law that provides for the way in which landed properties are inherited. The birth of children that are "not desirable" is being prevented through illegal medical intervention, which is often responsible for the death of pregnant women. The happiness of János and Julis are also the victims of this attitude: their parents would not hear of another child.
