This beautifully understated Western is the story of a son raised by two fathers, one from the European East and one from the American West. On the cusp of the 20th century, somewhere on the American frontier, Igor, an immigrant and recent widower, struggles to raise his two-year-old son Ivo on his own. When his American friend and mentor Duncan decides to move his horse-breeding business and young family to California, Igor and Ivo join the wagon train headed West.

Even though Sami is safe in the United States with his 9-year-old daughter, Aya, the injures sustained during the war in Syria are making his life difficult. When news breaks that the rest of his family will arrive from a refugee camp, he should be as elated as Aya. But as Aya grows more eager to see her brother Saeed, Sami grows more anxious.

This is a story based on fact that follows a husband and wife who emigrate from Scotland to Wisconsin in the 1850s. They work very hard and become welcome citizens of their new town, Eureka. They have six children. They prosper in the husband's boat-building business. But when their eldest is 12, tragedy strikes the family, and the 12-year-old is burdened with a terrible task which he handles as well as any adult could.

A 45 your old African living in Australia from Burundi does not have an easy life. He does not speak English well, he has issues even doing his simple job as a cleaner as he does not understand what the boss Mathew wants from him at certain times. He rather puts all his hopes into the future of his two children, his teenage son Dieudonne and his little daughter Aline as he wants them to study hard to embrace Australian culture, but never forget their African roots and make a successful life. Dieudonne does not care about his father's desire, he's a known troublemaker at school. He misleads his father by telling him that he is doing remarkably well in his studies.

A frigid winter on the Mongolian steppe, an untimely snowstorm aggravated the lives of a pregnant herder and her 8-year-old daughter: the missing flock of sheep, the unborn child, the absent husband, traces of wolves...... everything led the mother and daughter to places they’ve never been.
