Overview
The film tells the story of two young people who are in love. Ali, a truck driver, is preparing to marry Nazey, who is his childhood sweetheart. Meanwhile, Mithat Ağa's son is also in love with Nazey. Mithat Ağa, who is pressuring Nazey's family, promises his daughter to his son. At the same time, Mithat Ağa sends Ali on a long business trip and begins wedding preparations. Upon learning of this, Ali returns to the village and kidnaps Nazey on the wedding day. In response, Mithat Ağa sends his men to capture the two young people.

In 1970s Iran, Marjane 'Marji' Satrapi watches events through her young eyes and her idealistic family of a long dream being fulfilled of the hated Shah's defeat in the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Based on actual events that took place on 26 April 1974, former debutante turned IRA member Rose Dugdale and three comrades carried out an armed raid on Russborough House, Wicklow, in which nineteen masterpieces were stolen in an effort to support the IRA’s armed struggle. The film plays out over the course of the days following the raid, when Rose is in hiding in a remote cottage.
