Overview
Set in the future, where Brazil is ruled by a dictatorship capable of infiltrating and invading people's minds, bending their thoughts and controlling their dreams. A worker from the Censorship Department is forced to join forces with a group of rebels that seek to free the people throught dreams that recall a distant and lost art: the movies.

Low-level bureaucrat Sam Lowry escapes the monotony of his day-to-day life through a recurring daydream of himself as a virtuous hero saving a beautiful damsel. Investigating a case that led to the wrongful arrest and eventual death of an innocent man instead of wanted terrorist Harry Tuttle, he meets the woman from his daydream, and in trying to help her gets caught in a web of mistaken identities, mindless bureaucracy and lies.

Texan Charles Farmer left the Air Force as a young man to save the family ranch when his dad died. Like most American ranchers, he owes his bank. Unlike most, he's an astrophysicist with a rocket in his barn - one he's built and wants to take into space. It's his dream. The FBI puts him under surveillance when he tries to buy rocket fuel, and the FAA stalls him when he files a flight plan – but Charles is undeterred.

While attending a Dream-O-Vision experience at Playland, Annie finds herself far from the dreams and memories she was told she would be able to explore, instead, she stumbled into something claimed to be non-existent at Playland, a bad dream inhabited by an angry and long-forgotten memory.
