Overview
Mr. and Mrs. Tachibana who moved to the marginal village in the mountains due to her husband's work. Despite her anxiety, her wife Ruri felt the joy of spending time with her beloved husband. One day, Morita, the chief of her village, visits her, and instead of greeting her, he treats her to tea infused with ruri grass, a medicinal herb that has been handed down in her village for a long time. As soon as she drinks, her body is deprived of freedom, and she is played with by Morita's desires and loses her consciousness. However, when she wakes up after a while, she doesn't seem to have changed at all, and she wonders if it was her dream...

She describes life's vicious cycle: acting cheerful around drunks, dressing and living well to convey confidence, needing money for these expenses and for her demanding mother and brother, and knowing she's growing older.

Kyoko Otonashi is a 22-year-old widow. Six months have passed since the sudden death of her husband, Soichiro. In her resolve to move on, she has recently taken over the management of a boarding house owned by her father-in-law. She now finds herself reminiscing about the few seasons that she and Soichiro had together, and about the first time that she saw him: when he became her geology teacher during her final year of high school. This prequel is the third and final OVA released after the conclusion of MAISON IKKOKU, an animated series based on the manga by Rumiko Takahashi. The past events are retold through flashback sequences using scenes from the television series, with narration by Sumi Shimamoto as Kyoko.
