Rammstein: The Making of the Album "Reise, Reise"
Documentary · Music
Overview
Behind-the-scenes documentary about the creation of Rammstein's fourth studio album, "Reise, Reise." The album is inspired by one of the deadliest aircraft accidents in history, the Japan Airlines 1985 incident; the last recorded words of the crew can be heard as a bonus song at the beginning of the album. The album artwork features a damaged airplane cockpit with the words "Flugrekorder, Nicht Öffnen" (Flight Recorder, Do Not Open). The cover art is an allusion to the song "Dalai Lama", which deals with an aeroplane accident.

Völkerball shows concert-performances by the band in England, France, Japan and Russia. The limited edition was released as a large black and white photo-book with photos by Frederic Batier.

Hard, harder, hardest! This film orders you from the start to turn up the volume and pay attention. "Look out! We're Coming to Get You!" is a flood of images driven by a tempest of guitars. The film's creators jam 20 years of German music history into 120 minutes of film. Musicians from BLIND PASSENGERS, DIE SKEPTIKER, SANDOW and other bands explode their way through the film. Fans of the DEFA documentary "Flüstern und Schreien" ("Whisper and Shout") already know the stars of that film, Aljoscha, Paul and Flake of the band Feeling B. Here they have a chance to see how these musicians survived the period after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the "escalation of possibilities" that came with it. And you're allowed to laugh, too!

The concert film celebrates the band’s legendary show in New York’s Madison Square Garden – Rammstein’s return to the US after a ten-year absence. In HD and 5.1 surround sound. For the documentary, Rammstein provided extensive, previously unreleased footage and photos from the band archive. In numerous interviews from various periods in the band’s history, the band members speak about their experiences across the Atlantic.

In the summer of 2023, hardly any other topic caused as much discussion as this one: Rammstein singer Till Lindemann is allegedly responsible for sexual assaults. Several women had reported to NDR and the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” newspaper about alleged transgressions. There was talk of a kind of organized recruitment system for sexual acts with the Rammstein frontman. However, the public prosecutor's office dropped its investigation after a short time. For many fans, this is akin to an acquittal. “Panorama” accompanied some of the women for several months and researched the Rammstein band's environment. How did the sexist recruitment system of mostly young women around the so-called “Row Zero” for Till Lindemann work? Was it simply about sex, drugs and rock'n'roll or did the musician not accept boundaries?
