Overview
A curmudgeonly instructor at a New England prep school is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually, he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker — and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam.

Friendships and business do not mix, that's what we find with Theresa, Catherine and Alain, three longtime friends. Initial clashes turn into mutual appreciation as the two discover that life's surprises might be more important than always knowing the right answer. As the competition heats up, friendships are tested and secrets surface, revealing how much more is at stake than just bragging rights.

Good guy Steve Walker gets caught in the middle of the squabble after evoking Blackbeard's ghost.
