The Aborigines' belief is not shared by a giant mining company, which wants to tear open the soil and search for uranium.

Reverend David Poe and his psychiatrist wife trade hectic New York life for an idyllic rural farmhouse; the perfect place for 10 year old twins Jack & Emily to run, play and imagine. Documenting this lifestyle change, David decides to film every holiday and special family event. To the Poe's horror their home movies reveal an increasing malice and evil within their children.

A criminal known as Thunderbolt is imprisoned and facing execution. Into the next cell is placed Bob Moran, an innocent man who has been framed and who is in love with Thunderbolt's girl, without knowing of their relationship. Thunderbolt hopes to stave off the execution long enough to kill young Moran for romancing his girl.

While her husband is the face of the evening news on television, Sun-hee is at home alone. While her husband pursues an affair with a young violinist, Sun-hee struggles to find fulfilment in her work as an illustrator. Surrounded by relationships gone cold, everything seems primed for change.
