A woman objects to her bachelor friend getting married, so she makes him appear so ridiculous that the other woman refuses to marry him.

A mountaineer, who has been shot by a pursuing sheriff, is concealed by a mountain girl in her cabin. When the sheriff arrives, she gives him whiskey, while secretly removing the bullets from his gun.

Princess Triloff, an emigrée from Czarist Russia, escapes to America where she becomes a patron of the arts. She falls in love with the verses of impoverished poet Owen Carey and becomes his anonymous benefactor. When Owen inherits a fortune from his rich Uncle Krakerfeller, he assumes his uncle's identity and confers his own upon an impoverished friend, Frank Manners. At a resort, Owen meets the princess and falls in love with her, but is chagrined to discover that she is enamored with Manners. The princess finally discovers Owen's real identity and the two fall in love.

The woman has been leading an adventurous life. Her admirer grows tired and casts her off. She departs and sinks down in the street, tired mentally and bodily. The artist is painting the Madonna. His model fails to give him the inspiration needed and he discharges her. Passing down the street he observes the woman with the beautiful tired face, speaks to her and finally persuades her to go with him and be his model and embrace a better life. The painting is finished. The woman has supplied the inspiration. She tires and longs for the old, merry life. She meets the tempter once more and goes with him to his home.

Two friends, Tad and Jack, are conversing with each other at the Club, when Dr. Matthews, the wealthiest man in town, enters. In contemplating the rich man, the two young men speculate as to whether or not, with all his wealth, he is happy. The argument leads them to a wager. Tad bets $1,000 that there is something in the physician's life he would hate to have known, and that as a consequence he is unhappy. Jack accepts the bet.

War hero Captain November Jones tries to sneak into his hometown of Gold City, Nevada undetected but when he rescues a child from being run over by a train he’s recognized and obliged to receive the town's congratulations. Meanwhile, unscrupulous stockbroker Samuel Barnes and adventuress Teddy Craig are trying to get control of the Bluebird Lode from New Yorker Jackson J. Joseph, who is coming West to meet his daughter Nedra. Teddy tries to ensnare November to help fight Joseph, claiming he's trying to take her mine, but he refuses. Teddy's accusation of Jones's cowardice does not bother him until he falls in love with Nedra, who shuns him, believing Teddy's rumor. When Mr. Joseph is kidnapped and Jones saves him Nedra learns the truth and agrees to marry him.

The Pirate Chief and his Flunky are marooned and cast ashore on a cannibal island. The Flunky is caught and made King by the Cannibal Queen and he makes the Pirate work for him. The Pirate connives with the Councillor and the Flunky is captured. But the Pirate is also captured and given his choice of marrying the Queen or death in a boiling pot. The Flunky escapes in a boat. The Pirate chooses getting boiled over marrying the Queen. A stick of dynamite is placed under the pot and blows the Pirate onto the boat with the Flunky.

Alice, a waitress working in a restaurant managed by a flirtatious and diminutive proprietor (Barney Hellum). The proprietor’s wife is a formidable, "lion-taming" woman who is intensely jealous. When the proprietor lures Alice into an "imprudent date" at the Lonesome Inn under the guise of offering her a promotion his suspicious wife and Eddie (Eddie Quillan), a busboy who is Alice's actual boyfriend, track them down. A chaotic confrontation ensues, leading to a "race for life" as the husband attempts to escape his wife’s wrath. The film concludes with Alice and Eddie successfully escaping together, while the husband and wife are seen in silhouette engaged in a physical brawl.

To bypass the quota, Kitty slips past a gateman by joining a Jewish family she befriended on the voyage. She is eventually taken in by Papa Levy (Max Davidson), who has since become a successful American citizen. Kitty came to America to reunite with her childhood sweetheart, Eddie (Eddie Quillan), who sent letters claiming to be a "big man in the shoe business". Upon finding Eddie, Kitty discovers he is merely a corner bootblack who has forgotten his Irish roots for a "fancy dame" named Rosa Cremona. Seeking fame, Eddie enters an Amateur Night contest at a local theater as a dancer. His performance is a disaster; he is pelted with vegetables by the audience, ruining a dress suit lent to him by Papa Levy. Realizing Eddie's foolishness, Kitty turns her romantic interests toward Danny (Danny O'Shea), a handsome New York police officer and "true son of Erin".
