Overview
Mehrban is a 1967 Hindi language film written and directed by A. Bhimsingh. It is a remake of Bhimsingh's own Tamil film Padikkadha Medhai (1960) which itself was a remake of the 1953 Bengali film Jog Biyog, based on the novel of the same name by Ashapoorna Devi.

Titu's aspirations and dreams are far from his actions, he dreams with open eyes, and finds the shortest way to achieve his dreams. Despite despite his debt-ridden life, if you ask him, he is no less a dreamer than Ambani. Mosmi is the girl of today, living life on her own terms. She cannot compromise with her principles. Mosmi feels that Titu and she are made for each other but troubles arise when Titu's decisions endanger their love affair. This is a slice of life film, this simple love story of middle-class family conveys the big message of life in a very entertaining way.

Avtaar Krishen lives a poor lifestyle with his wife, Radha, and two sons, Ramesh and Chander. He works in a factory and toils hard so that his sons can get the necessary education, and live a better lifestyle. He gets injured and crippled while working, but is compensated adequately by his employer, Bawaji.

Ramji Tiwari and his sister, Parvati, had their parents pass away at an early age. Ramji is a skilled cook and is familiar with all aspects of vegetarian cooking. He arranges Parvati's marriage with the Mishra family, promises to pay a large sum of dowry, which he manages to get by promising to get married to a wealthy man's daughter.

The Bombay police is baffled at a series of robberies being committed in homes of prominent people, with the thief leaving a swastika and stealing only one set of jewellery instead of everything in the safe. Their investigation takes them to bring in a notorious burglar, Tony, who denies having anything to do with these robberies.

Insulted by Rosario, a rich businessman, Jai Kishen a Matchmaker teaches him a lesson by getting his daughter married to Raju, a Coolie, who poses to be a millionaire. They sense something fishy and Raju's deceptions are discovered. In an attempt to cover it up, he cooks up a story of having a filthy rich twin. One lie leads to another and things start to go awry culminating in a comedy of errors.
