2012/2013 was a new dawn at Tottenham Hotspur under new Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas. Competing once again both domestically and in Europe the Club made progress throughout the season, breaking their Barclays Premier league points tally for the season as well as an extended run in the UEFA Europa League. Gareth Bale continued to impress, picking up a clean sweep of awards at the PFA as well the Football Writers' Footballer of the Year. As well as this the Club made some key signings to help bolster the squad, improve the first team and mould a side into the vision of Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas. Tottenham made a promising start under Jacques Santini and looked to be challenging for a place in Europe, but Santini resigned in November, after only twelve games, citing personal reasons. He was replaced by his assistant coach Martin Jol, whose first match in charge saw arch-rivals Arsenal win a thrilling North London derby 5-4. Following the derby defeat, results picked up and Tottenham were soon back amongst the race for a UEFA Cup spot, but a draw with Blackburn on the last day of the season saw their slim European hopes dashed. Nonetheless, good cup runs and the resurgence in the league under Jol gave Spurs fans hopes of a greater push for European football the next season

The 2006/2007 Season consolidated Tottenham's place amongst the top five clubs in England, whilst at the same time underlining their reputation as entertainers with goals galore and classic matches throughout the campaign. Competitive in all competitions, the team scored over 100 goals and reached the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup (setting a British record of eight consecutive European wins in the process), the quarter finals of The FA Cup, the semi finals of the League Cup and retained 5th position in the Premier League.

Tottenham enjoyed a stellar season under David Pleat. Under his management, the club finished third in the First Division, were losing finalists in the FA Cup and reached the semi-finals of the League Cup. Striker Clive Allen arguably played the most important role in Tottenham's success, scoring 33 goals in the league and 49 in all competitions as Tottenham played their best football in years.
