Overview
Mei lives in an orphanage, but she is adopted by the wealthy and kind Uda family. The family already has an adopted daughter Rana. While Rana seems weird, Mei and Rana find that they have a lot in common and become like real sisters. The girls then learn that the Uda family's business has collapsed and they can only keep one of the daughters. One of the girls will be returned to the orphanage in a week. Revenge is soon planned.

After a diving excursion in the middle of the ocean, Lindsey is viciously sexually assaulted by Bruce, her instructor. She fends him of and they fall overboard into the water. Bruce grabs her and sinks her to the depths of the ocean. In this spiral of violence, she has no way to breathe.

As they settle in the new house, Milla experiences a series of events, that may be supernatural or in her head. The key to this phenomenons are the holes in the wall, that keep constantly staring at her. Somehow she feels watched through the holes, that appear to breathe and replicate through the house - although Milla doesn't witness a ghost, she feels it. It tries to remind her of something long forgotten. As Milla's broken mind made her vulnerable and susceptible to whatever ghosts may haunt her house, it becomes more and more difficult, to say what is alive and what is an echo. In the end Milla finds out, that the ghosts are a manifestation of her pain, that has built the home she lives in.

Its their first year at Honcho Junior High and things get off to a very shaky start when students left and right begin having strange experiences. While Miyuki visits her teacher Saeki to attend to a finger cut, she has visions of a somber-faced girl in an outdated school uniform. At that very moment, panicked students run into the office announcing that another student, Mizudani Sachie, has fainted while in the "Hanako stall" of the girl's bathroom, the rumored location of the haunting spirit of a young girl. When Sachie fails to regain consciousness, she is taken to the hospital, where she later awakens with no memory of the incident. Upon her return to school, however, Sachie now seems to have full insight into other things such as the manner of death or serious injury each student will face.
