Overview
The action takes place in pre-revolutionary Russia, during the period when persecution of Jews began. Tevye's already difficult life is further complicated by a series of events that test his faith. Will he be able to withstand all of these difficult blows? It is difficult to say how much a person can endure, but it becomes clear that faith helps a person not to break down in the most difficult moments of life.

1934, Germany. The ten-year-old Peter lives in a small town with his parents. His father, an underground Communist, is arrested. Although the boy is not persecuted by the Nazis and dreams of joining the Hitler Youth, his skin color makes him a target for racist abuse...

Wanting to protect her deaf son from the truth that they've run away from his father, Lizzie has invented a story that he is away at sea on the HMS Accra. Every few weeks, Lizzie writes Frankie a make-believe letter from his father, telling of his adventures in exotic lands. As Frankie tracks the ship's progress around the globe, he discovers that it is due to dock in his hometown. With the real HMS Accra arriving in only a fortnight, Lizzie must choose between telling Frankie the truth or finding the perfect stranger to play Frankie's father for just one day...
