Overview
The controversial satire The LA Riot Spectacular plays for mordent laughs the events that consumed L.A. in 1992, after the police officers on trial for beating motorist Rodney King were found innocent. The city was engulfed by a massive riot, but the film plays these moments for laughs. In addition to recreating some of the images seen on television, the film skewers a variety of figures including the police, the media, and the citizens of the city.

Matti and Niila, growing up in the mid-sixties in the harsh and conservative environment of a Finnish-speaking part of Tornedalen in Swedish Laponia, close to the Finnish border. Their big dream is to become rock stars. In the present the now grown-up Matti feels guilt for the death of his drug-addicted rock star friend Niila.

When Manny Singer's wife dies, his young daughter Molly becomes mute and withdrawn. To help cope with looking after Molly, he hires sassy housekeeper Corrina Washington, who coaxes Molly out of her shell and shows father and daughter a whole new way of life. Manny and Corrina's friendship delights Molly and enrages the other townspeople.

Leroy is an Afro-German boy who is struggling with notorious bad luck and a national identity crisis. Leroy is cultured and well-mannered and, in a positive sense, more German than many Germans. His girlfriend Eva's brothers are skinheads and befriend him. Together with his best friend Dimmi, a Greek, he strolls through crowded and dirty Berlin to the sound of 70s soul grooves and ponders all the sore points of being German. And then he comes up with the idea of how to defeat fascism....
