A group of men are on safari. One of the party refuses to give a gift to a tribe they encounter. At a national park in Kenya, English game warden George Adamson and his wife, Joy, care for three orphaned lion cubs. When Elsa is blamed for causing an elephant stampede in the nearby village, head warden John Kendall demands the young lion either be trained to survive in the wilds of the Serengeti or be sent to a zoo.

This prequel to the smash Disney animated adventure takes you back -- way back -- before Simba's adventure began. Sir Robert Beaumont is behind schedule on a railroad in Africa. Enlisting noted engineer John Henry Patterson to right the ship, Beaumont expects results. Everything seems great until the crew discovers the mutilated corpse of the project's foreman, seemingly killed by a lion. After several more attacks, Patterson calls in famed hunter Charles Remington, who has finally met his match in the bloodthirsty lions.
