After being estranged since her mother's death in the 9/11 attacks, both daughter and father must work together to re-establish their relationship. When the difficulty nearly consumes them both, a bond with a beautiful horse that has also gone through its own tragic loss brings Taylor Sims, back to what is important - family, friendship and faith. With help from the community and from above, they repair the pieces of their lives and learn to stop running, forever.

A group of Anglican nuns, led by Sister Clodagh, are sent to a mountain in the Himalayas. The climate in the region is hostile and the nuns are housed in an odd old palace. They work to establish a school and a hospital, but slowly their focus shifts. Sister Ruth falls for a government worker, Mr. Dean, and begins to question her vow of celibacy. On the way to meet with an independent artist in the South, newlywed art dealer Madeleine is convinced by her husband, George, that they should stop to meet his family in North Carolina. Madeleine's affluent lifestyle clashes with the family, but she befriends George's wide-eyed and pregnant sister-in-law, Ashley, who is nearing her due date. Through the family, Madeleine gains greater insight into George's character.
