Altin, aspiring Albanian writer arrived in Italy aboard a large ferry in the 90, works in a butcher shop when he selected to audition for a reality of writers and finally sees a chance to be successful with his book "the journey of Ismail." These things are not necessary to achieve individual well-being, happiness and inner balance.

Jean Bonnard, clean-cut industrialist and the only son of a widow, goes to visit his mother in the small village where she lives. However, early in the morning the police arrive to arrest him, accusing the man of having murdered the old banker who'd made advances towards his girlfriend. Jean's mother is eager to aid her son, whom she believes is innocent. Said Epstein of his film: "I shot small landscapes in Livilliers which seemed to me-- in their reality, I mean-- very large".

A violinist in a provincial Polish orchestra, whose husband is the director of the ensemble, on a visit to the US ties up with the world- renowned symphony conductor. As it turns out he was once in love with violinist's mother. The conductor, a slightly unstable hypochondriac, returns to Poland to lead the provincial orchestra. He also tries to revive old love affair using the violinist as a surrogate of her mother. Her husband is resentful of the conductor for both personal and professional reasons.

Sorn, a multiracial photographer, is assigned by his editor to take pictures of Laos, where he's reluctant to go. Even though, Sorn is half-Laotian, going back to his homeland is never on his mind. Sorn arrives at Pak-Cher town where he hires a guide, Noi to take him out to the best picture spots in Laos.

Amarr Coleman, a successful Chicago-based artist who has returned home to Kentucky after the passing of his beloved grandmother, Linda Coleman, finds himself still in Lexington a month after the funeral, struggling to wrap up family affairs. When an old friend visits him, Amarr is forced to re-explore the neighborhood, his memories, and the many characters that reflect the history, beauty, and complexity of home.
