Overview
A White enclave in Johannesburg, South Africa, in the 1960s. Molly Roth, 13 years old, is the daughter of leftist parents, and she must piece together what's happening around her when her father disappears one night, barely evading arrest, and, not long after, her mother is detained by the authorities. Some of Molly's White friends turn against her, and her family's friendships with Blacks take on new meaning. Relationships are fragile in the world of apartheid. How will she manage?

After the premiere, the theatre group gathers in a bar to celebrate. However, the cheerful gathering is interrupted by a drunken Soviet officer. He insists on selling a can of petrol. However, when he senses the awkwardness, the hidden hatred, the cowardice, the timidity of the people there, he begins to enjoy the situation with his intrusiveness. When he takes his pistol out of its holster, things start to get crazy. The people in the bar suddenly become “freedom fighters” against the Russian occupation.

Dottie soon rises to stardom, but while she travels all over the USA, her daughters stay home lonely.

Mula lives with her husband, sick mother and daughter Nina in a countryside house. At the weekend before Nina’s First Holy Communion, her brother with his family come for a visit together with Kaja – Mula’s younger sister, who disappeared suddenly 6 years earlier. Kaja is Nina’s biological mother. Mula is afraid that unstable Kaja might want to take her daughter away.
