A.C. Green: Iron Virgin
Documentary
Overview
He played in a record 1,192 consecutive NBA games. As a power forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, he won two NBA championships. But what made A.C. Green even more distinctive was the courage of his convictions. As this ESPN 30 for 30 Short points out, Green was a devout Christian who says he maintained his virginity throughout his 16 years in the NBA, nine of them spent in the tempting, hedonistic atmosphere of LA. That didn’t stop him from being a fierce, passionate competitor on the court. It just meant that he was someone who, as teammate James Worthy says, “could stay strong and not be broken.” It was only after he retired after the 2000-01 season that Green got married.

The wait is almost over. Get ready to relive the magic of last year’s title chase. Narrated by Al Horford, the documentary provides an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Celtics’ 2023-24 season, starting with the offseason acquisitions of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday and culminating in the franchise capturing its record-breaking 18th NBA crown. From preseason training camp all the way to Game 5 of the NBA Finals, experience the Celtics’ historic journey to the NBA mountaintop through the eyes of the players, coaches and team staff who made it happen. The 2023-24 Celtics campaign was one for the ages. The team’s core of new faces, tenured veterans and proven superstars came together to win 80 combined regular season & playoff games, becoming just the 14th team in league history to do so. “Every championship has a story,” Horford said. This is one you won’t want to miss.

The story of how mobster Henry Hill - played by Ray Liotta in Martin Scorsese 1990 classic, Goodfellas - helped orchestrate the fixing of Boston College basketball games in the 1978-79 season. The details of that point-shaving scandal are revealed for the first time on film through the testimony of the players, the federal investigators and the actual fixers. Playing For The Mob may be set in the seemingly golden world of college basketball, but like Goodfellas, this is a tale of greed, betrayal and reckoning. Ultimately, they both share the same message: With that much money at stake, you can't trust anybody.

From season ending injuries to a last place finish, it seemed like the Golden State Warriors were far from the dynasty that had taken the NBA by storm for the early part of a decade. As the rest of the basketball world moved on to the next contender, Stephen Curry and the rest of the Warriors continued working, just waiting for the opportunity to once again have their core healthy and sharing the court together again. This is the story of how Stephen Curry would once and for all cement himself as one of the NBA's all-time greats, with a memorable Finals MVP performance that earned him his fourth ring.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 WNBA season pivoted into a bubble site in Bradenton, Florida – where 144 players across 12 teams convened to face the rigors of an unrelenting schedule and finish their battle for a championship; all while just as dedicated to amplify social activism in response to the injustices that gripped that same summer.
