Overview
On a winter day in 1961, 31-year-old Anna Eichmayr crosses the Grosshesseloher bridge in Munich, she suddenly stops in the middle of the bridge, opens a manhole and plunges into the depths. The film traces the young woman's life in flashbacks. It goes back to 1945.

Four prison inmates have been hatching a plan to literally dig out of jail when another prisoner, Claude Gaspard, is moved into their cell. They take a risk and share their plan with the newcomer. Over the course of three days, the prisoners and friends break through the concrete floor using a bed post and begin to make their way through the sewer system – yet their escape is anything but assured.

When Sun-oh's abusive father dies while on duty as a firefighter, he feels a sense of liberation. As he dreams of a new life, his mother and sister seem to have forgotten the violence they endured. Confused, Sun-oh falls in with delinquent friends and starts his first relationship hoping to leave his father behind. However, at his father's memorial ceremony, Sun-oh shatters as his mother and sister speak of forgiveness.

This is the home of Anant, an 8 year old boy who scrapes a living picking coal and selling it at the local markets to try and feed himself and his sick mother. One day, a chance encounter changes Anant's life, forever. This is a coming of age drama that casts a spotlight on a humanitarian disaster area and gives us a chance to see the world through the eyes of one of India's many child labourers.
