In the beginning of the 19th century, Johannes Elias Alder is born in a small village in the Austrian mountains. While growing up he is considered strange by the other villagers and discovers his love of music, especially rebuilding and playing the organ at the village church. After experiencing an "acoustic wonder", his eye color changes and he can hear even the most subtle sounds.

Jana Skoff, star of the folk music trio “Jana & die Lausbuam”, has fallen deeply in love with the singer of an indie band and wants to start a new life with her. Then Alex is found dead. As Inspector Bergmann and his partner Anni find out from their Spusi colleague Kofler, someone has treacherously blocked the exhaust of the stove in the bathhouse where the victim was sleeping!

A snowed-in holiday hotel. A dead body in a room locked from the inside. The hotel manager wants to cover it up, but in the blink of an eye the whole hotel knows about it. Among the guests is an inspector - or at least he convincingly claims to be - who, together with his assistant who has travelled with him, undertakes extensive investigations. Then even a second murder takes place!

First barns burn, then an old house burns. A fire brigade goes around. A corpse burned beyond recognition is found in the old house. Intention or amazing coincidence? Franzi Heilmayr and Martin Merana believe in coincidence - until the evidence suddenly points in a completely different direction. And deadly danger still emanates from there.

Inspector Bergmann and his new colleague Anni Sulmtaler find themselves dealing with a sinister murder on Halloween of all days. During a session with the medium Vera, a woman is shot through the window. The murder weapon is the husband's hunting rifle. But he can't be the perpetrator. Only Vera's controlling spirit knows the truth, but unfortunately it evades any questioning.
