Overview
The story of the assassination of Lord Moyne, the British Minister for the Colonies, by a Jewish gang for his support of the Palestinians. The two killers are arrested by Major Abdullah, and Detective Ahmed Ezzat takes charge of the investigation, infiltrating the gang as events unfold.

Set in the suburbs of Cairo in the late 1930s, the story follows a middle-class Egyptian family grappling with the hardships of life after the death of their father, their sole breadwinner. At the start of World War II, Cmdr. Ericson is assigned to convoy escort HMS Compass Rose with inexperienced officers and men just out of training. The winter seas make life miserable enough, but the men must also harden themselves to rescuing survivors of U-Boat attacks, while seldom able to strike back. Traumatic events afloat and ashore create a warm bond between the skipper and his first officer.
