Overview
Punnagai means Smile. Smile which has many emotions and represents many gestures and expressions of life. Punnagai is a story of five friends Satya(Gemini Ganesan), Rajan(Muthuraman), Haniff who studied in the same college, while graduating they took an oath in front of Gandhi's statue saying they will always stand with truth. But later they got split as Haniff dies in a car accident and each of them got settled in their profession where they have to cheat their profession and principles. The story begins with three different stories (plots) where as the one friend (Nagesh)out of four explains the story. Will they follow Gandhi's principles ?

Nalai Namathe is about the man who struggles to raise the standards of the society he lives in. The film is based on the concept that government should make Rs. 500 crores the maximum limit for property that could be owned by anyone and should confiscate any excess, to be distributed to the poor and needy.

A seemingly innocent voicemail message left on a man’s answer machine by his ex, soon turns on its head when we learn of his dark past in their relationship. We quickly learn that our protagonist may not be as innocent as he seems, through the heart-wrenching monologue delivered to him via the tiny machine in his home.
Sathyamoorthi is an Indian liberal leader. He tries to get his pension money but all his attempts end in failure. He has a daughter named Kannamma and they are very poor. The daughter gets cheated by a collector and she gives birth to a baby but the collector avoids that baby. He is going to marry another girl. The collector is killed by Sathyamoorthi and capital punishment is given to him by the court. How the lives of such a leader and his family changes due to circumstances, forms the crux of the story.

Lena is a bright, disabled girl who, after years spent studying at home, is keen to get back to school. She is assigned to a special class for disabled pupils who have to present themselves before a school commission at the end of the year in order to prove that they merit being moved back into a "normal" class. Her enervated teachers, however, show absolutely no desire to motivate the students and help them improve; on the contrary, they try to quash right from the start any interest Lena shows in more complex study material. Nevertheless, Lena soon involves herself in the school routine and gets together with classmate Anton. Yet their transparent happiness is not to everyone's liking and repercussions soon follow.
