Overview
Mr. Wong (Michael Hui) is the chief chef in a Teppanyaki restaurant. His overbearing wife and sadistic father-in-law make his home life a misery, so he spends all day dreaming about his dream girl, Sissy (Sally Yeh). When she comes into the restaurant, Wong seizes the opportunity and arranges to take her on a tour of the Paradise Island. Unfortunately, his wife and her friend go with him.

Swedish efficiency researchers come to Norway for a study of Norwegian men, to optimize their use of their kitchen. Folke Nilsson (Tomas Norström) is assigned to study the habits of Isak Bjørvik (Joachim Calmeyer). By the rules of the research institute, Folke has to sit on an umpire's chair in Isak's kitchen and observe him from there, but never talk to him. Isak stops using his kitchen and observes Folke through a hole in the ceiling instead. However, the two lonely men slowly overcome the initial post-war Norwegian-Swede distrust and become friends.

Master chef Kate Armstrong runs her life and her kitchen with intimidating intensity. However, a recipe for disaster may be in the works when she becomes the guardian of her young niece while crossing forks with the brash sous-chef who just joined her staff. The food is not that good, but you can be yourselves and show yourselves for what you are: maniacs, perverts, gays, cheaters, violent old women, cross-dressers, whining singers, broken hearts...
