In 1979 filmmaker John Samson went on the road with a 22-year-old Eric Bristow, one of the rising stars of British darts. This film depicts Bristow between major competitions as he travels around the pubs and working men's clubs of Britain, challenging the local heroes and playing exhibition matches. In 1998 Raymond van Barneveld single-handedly put darts on the map in the Netherlands. For years he kept millions of Dutch people glued to the TV around Christmas and grew into a phenomenon. At the upcoming World Cup, he will say goodbye to darts after a legendary career. With five world titles and an army of fans, the darts world is losing an icon that changed the sport forever.

Who is Jocky Wilson? 20 years ago every child in Kirkcaldy, on the east coast of Scotland, could answer this question. One of the best darts players ever, world champion in 1982 and 1989 - a national hero. But in '95 Jocky paid the price for his self destructive life style. In search of his myth, we follow the forces that shaped Jocky's hometown and its inhabitants as we discover lost memories of the man who once inspired the nation.
This documentary tells the complete story of darts from its early beginnings in English pubs in the Middle Ages right through to the dramatic televised competitions of the Embassy World Championship. Presented by the legendary Bobby George, the BBC's face of darts, and narrated by Dougie Donnelly, the film uses a mix of archive footage and stills to tell the early history, before moving on to the televised era from the 1970's onwards.
