Vicious gangster Vincent Canelli pulls off a daring prison escape just moments before going to the electric chair, taking with him Peter Manning – a bank robber and cop killer who was to die right after him. Taking several hostages along, they try to get their hands on the loot from Manning’s robbery to finance their escape from the country.

A convicted murderer is escorted by marshals on a regular flight from Phoenix to Dallas. Shortly after takeoff, two of his aides, traveling as ordinary passengers, take control and free him. He demands $20 million in bonds upon landing. And a sick passenger, bad weather or mechanical problems won't stop him.

In the second film with Krister Henriksson as Kurt Wallander, a man enters a bank and threatens to blow it up in the air unless his demands are met. Henning Mankell's sharp-eyed commissioner has the assistance of daughter Linda, newly graduated police officer, and criminal inspector Stefan Lindman.
