Emmy winner Holland Taylor and Broadway's Ana Villafañe star as two U.S. Representatives, generations apart, who couldn't be more different. Inspired by real people and events, the play N/A is a battle of wills and wits between N, the first woman Speaker of the House, and A, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. Filmed from Lincoln Center's Off-Broadway theater in August 2024, N/A is part of Theater Close-Up, a collaboration between THIRTEEN and New York City-area Off-Broadway and regional theaters, shining a primetime spotlight on a diverse mix of innovative theater productions. Go behind closed doors as these two formidable women debate power, ambition, and change. N/A is written by Congressional aide turned playwright Mario Correa and directed by Tony Award-winning director Diane Paulus (“Jagged Little Pill”).

Chorus girl Peggy Lane, finds a small part in a new show for David North, a stages-truck country boy. At rehearsal, David meets Delerys Devore, the show's star, and she quickly offers him a larger part in her act. Quite taken with David, Delerys invites him to her home on the pretext that Peggy will be there; when Peggy does not show up, David leaves, infuriating his hostess. Derelys has Peggy fired the next day, and in reprisal Peggy goads her into a Carmenesque fight backstage just before the show. Derelys is unable to go on stage, and Peggy takes her place, becoming the hit of the show. Peggy and David are later married and give up show business, finding contentment living on a farm.

Ten bottles of wine serve as the common thread in this fourth show by François-Xavier Demaison, which combines personal anecdotes and colorful characters. The year or origin of these vintages serve only as a pretext for a journey through time and space, from 1973 to the present day, from Catalonia to New York. The actor's memories mingle with those of the audience, and the tasting becomes a reflection on a strange era.
