Overview
A husband, L.T., believes his marriage problems stem from the pets his wife and he acquired. He argues that his wife's dog favors her, while his cat prefers him, creating a dysfunctional dynamic that ultimately leads to her leaving him.

For over a decade, they engage in a series of duels amidst larger conflicts, including the failed French invasion of Russia in 1812, and shifts in the political and social systems of Europe.
