Overview

During the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty, the imperial court was rife with factional strife and the unchecked influence of eunuchs. One late night, Cui Si, a loyal follower of the eunuch faction, was found dead in his residence under mysterious circumstances. Enraged by the incident, the powerful eunuch Wei Zhongyuan ordered the Imperial Guards to investigate the matter thoroughly.
