Overview
Peralejos, a quiet village in Upper Aragon, is a place where nothing ever happens. One day Angelino returns home to spend the holidays, an immigrant who drives a Mercedes and tells great wonders of Germany and their women. Pepe, fascinated by the stories of his friend, decides to immigrate, but his dream begins at five o'clock, cleaning windows, and ends at twelve o'clock pasting posters.

Robert, a jaded middle-aged New Yorker, travels to Belgrade to make some quick cash by marrying someone for U.S. immigration papers. The plan goes awry when the money never arrives, leaving Robert stuck in Serbia. Meanwhile in New York, Banko, the young Serb whose girlfriend Robert is to marry, fights to come up with the cash.

Ida is a woman who was adopted to Finland from Africa as a child. Ida is an unemployed seamstress approaching her thirties and still lives at home with her activist mother Kati. Kati wants to fix her daughter's life and offers her a job at her work. Encouraged by her new friend Ville, Ida, however, sets out for Berlin in order to find a job and to prove to her mother that she can manage on her own. Meanwhile, Kati has been told that she is seriously ill, but she does not want to mention it to Ida in fear of standing in the way of her daughter's struggle for independence. Ida wants to have a life of her own, but what will she have left at the end of the day?

Sara and Adam, and their two-year-old daughter, arrive in Belgium illegally, hoping to finally make their way on to England. Crammed together with other hopefuls in the back of a van, fear begins to prevail. Redouane has been a policeman for 20 years. Every night, he and his team hunt down smugglers throughout the busy motorway network. That night, when he and his partner try to force a van suspected of transporting migrants to stop, everything changes.
